By using MkrBid you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What this site is

A place for knife makers to list knives by auction, drawing or first come, first served, and for customers to bid and enter. We provide the listing, the clock and the draw. We are not a party to any sale. We do not hold money, ship anything, or guarantee that a maker or a buyer will follow through.

MkrBid is a marketplace intermediary only. Every item is sold by the maker who lists it, not by us. We do not own, hold or inventory any item; we do not inspect, authenticate or verify any item, listing or maker; we do not ship or deliver anything; and we do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality or description of any item, or that it will arrive. Any claim about an item is between you and the maker.

The three formats

Auction: the highest bid when the clock runs out wins. Bids are final and cannot be withdrawn. If anti-snipe is on, a late bid extends the clock.
FCFS (first come, first served): a fixed price and a set number of items. The first people to press Buy once it opens get one each, one per person, until they are gone.
Drawing: free to enter, one entry each. One entrant is drawn at random and earns the right to buy the knife at the listed price.

Draws are made automatically and at random by the site. Once a listing has a bid or entry, its prices and times are locked.

Payment is between you and the maker

You pay the maker, never us, except with bank payout below. If a maker has connected Stripe, the charge goes straight to the maker’s Stripe account, the maker is the seller of record, and Stripe’s terms apply to the payment. If a maker uses bank payout instead, you pay MkrBid through Stripe: MkrBid is the seller of record for that payment, passes the maker’s share to their bank through Stripe, and handles its refunds and chargebacks.

Customers pay payment processing fees in addition to the item price and shipping, including the applicable international-card surcharge. For US Stripe accounts, the processing rate is 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic cards, 4.4% + 30¢ for international cards (including the additional 1.5%), or 5.99% + 30¢ with Klarna. A card is international when its issuing country differs from the Stripe account’s country; your shipping address does not determine this. The fee is calculated on the total charge, including the processing fee itself, and the final fee and total are shown before you confirm payment. Processing fees apply only where permitted by applicable law and card network rules.

The maker pays MkrBid’s fee, 3% of the item price (3.5% with bank payout), out of what they receive. Additional services a maker enables on their own Stripe account, such as Radar Pro, remain the maker’s responsibility. Other payment methods carry no MkrBid fee. Apart from bank payout, we never hold your money and cannot issue refunds; refunds and chargebacks are between you, the maker and Stripe.

Every other payment happens off this site, by whatever method the maker lists. Be aware that person-to-person methods such as PayPal Friends & Family, Zelle and Cash App generally offer no buyer protection and payments are hard or impossible to reverse. Only pay makers you trust. We cannot recover money for you.

If you are a maker

List only knives you own and can deliver, described and pictured honestly.
Honour the result: sell to the winner at the winning bid or listed price.
You are responsible for the law where you and your entrants live. Knife sales and shipping are regulated in many places. Check before you list.
Getting paid by card. You can connect your own Stripe account, set up bank payout, or both. With both, winners pay through the one you mark Preferred; with one, through that one.
Bank payout. MkrBid opens a Stripe account for you, and you agree to Stripe’s Connected Account Agreement on Stripe’s form, where you give Stripe your identity and bank details. To spare you its business questions, MkrBid tells Stripe on your behalf that you sell handmade knives through MkrBid, links your MkrBid maker page as your website, and sets MKRBID as the name on winners’ card statements. Your share of each sale is paid to your bank automatically once the winner’s payment clears, usually about two business days later, and can take a few more days to reach your account. If a winner is refunded or wins a chargeback on your sale, MkrBid may take that amount back from your Stripe balance or later payouts.

If you are a customer

Bid or enter only if you intend to pay. Give accurate contact details so the maker can reach you.
Make sure you are legally allowed to buy and receive the knife where you live.

Accounts and conduct

You must be 18 or older. One person, one account; no shill bidding, no entering your own listings, no fake entries. We may remove listings or close accounts that break these terms or the law.

No warranty, limited liability

The site is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from deals between users, from payments made off the site, or from the site being unavailable.
